The Beginning of a Journey

The vision of world peace took shape in revered Revered Prof. (Dr.) Vishwanath D. Karad’s young mind through the extensive readings and early influences of the great philosophers and saints of India ,Saint Shri Dnyaneshwara of the 13th century and Saint Shri Tukaram of the 17th century. In his own words, “the readings made a lasting impression on my mind and has set forth on my life ’s mission to promote the Culture of Peace in the World through appropriate understanding of the role of science and spirituality/religion and the very essence and philosophy of all the world religions.” Alandi, near Pune, in the Indian state of Maharashtra, was the sacred abode of Saint Shri Dyaneshwara which was often visited by Revered Prof. (Dr.) Vishwanath D. Karad During one of his visits in 1987,on the occasion of a religious ceremony on the banks of Indrayani River (pictured here), to pay homage to the great saint, the idea of a monument, a symbol of the message of world peace of the great saints and philosophers, took root in his mind. The vision of representation of the union of science and spirituality/religion as an important pathway for peace for the whole world to be inspired with, was born. He remained committed to that vision and today the world has been gifted the Philosopher Saint Shri Dnyaneshwara World Peace Dome, World Peace Prayer Hall &Library.
